This is definitely not your typical love story. I am all for curve balls, but the ones in this book turned me off to no end. And it was so convoluted, we got bombarded with information, that, in the end, was not explained, and left you with a feeling of wondering what the heck did you just read...We got Jax, funny guy and famous man-whore, who grew up in the club, and is very happy with his life in it, especially the sexual perks of it. Then, we have Cherri, stripper at the club's strip joint, who has enough drama in her life to make you thank your lucky stars for the boring life that you must have in comparison. He wants her, she says no, so he hooks up with this other stripper there. Then, while still in a "relationship" of sorts with Peaches (the other stripper in question), he ends up sleeping with Cherri and tells her he is with her now, and would dump the other one. However, there's a misunderstanding and when Cherri thinks that Jax just played her, she hooks up with another biker from the club, Gunner. Then Jax gets mad, and continues sleeping with Peaches, along with a couple other women he picks up along the way, while Cherri is definitely in a relationship with Gunner now. Then, this other goofball comes out of the woodwork, turns out he had been Cherri's sugar daddy back before she came to strip for the MC.
So there's all this back and forth that goes on forever, and just when you think that things are finally settling down, there's more drama coming. I did not like the sleeping with other people, especially out of spite, at all, and could not get over it at all. It took everything in me to finish this book, because deep down I guess I did want to see Jax and Cherrie get their happy ending, but their story was definitely not my cup of tea.

I liked Jax and Cherri's story. Cherri was rescued by the insurgents in the first book from a rival club. Jax felt something for her even then and kept her around even if it was stripping at the Dream house. As their story progresses though they both try to get each others attention by making each other jealous. When Cherri and her daughter are kidnapped is when Jax realizes he is in love with her.
My one small complaint I have is I wish to find out as the series progresses is how the prior couples are doing. Other than that this series is awesome. I hope the author never stops writing.
I don't quite understand it but this book series is incredibly addicting. I read book 4 first and am going back to read them in order. I really enjoyed book 1 and book 4...but this one... I have had a hard time coming to terms with Jax.
The author has done well with developing his character, so I understand that this 1% MC life is all he knows. He grew up in it and with his view on women and how he treats them it makes it incredibly difficult to like him until nearly the end. I did end up feeling much better about both of them but there was a lot of angst along the way.
These books are very dark and gritty and delve into subjects that can be difficult to read about, but then that is why they are also so good you can't put them down. Ms. Wilder certainly seems to have quite the insight and really pulls you into this world.
Cherrie has had a rough life. Raped by her stepfather repeatedly, was a man's mistress who wasn't nice, then kidnapped by a rival club and almost sold. Now she's a stripper at Dream House, the Insurgents strip club.
Jax is sergeant in arms and has had a hard on for Cherrie since he first laid eyes on her but she wants nothing to do with men. He removes her from the stage because he doesn't want her stripping and that enraged her. How is she gonna to make enough money to get out of this town?
They finally have sex and then she goes to work to find another stripper on his lap. She is furious and won't let him explain or give him another chance. She befriends an older member but he's more friend than lover.
When her past comes back to haunt her and she is kidnapped, Jax will do anything to get to her back even go against the brothers.
I hate how they treat women. But the stories are so addictive. Rough sex. Suspense. And a totally badass biker and a stripper trying to make a better life for herself.
Jax's Dilemma was the second book in the Insurgents MC by Chiah Wilder.
Jax was the Sergeant at Arms for the Insurgents MC. He was born and raised in the MC and fit the description of the typical biker player.
Cherri Benoit was a stripper at the Insurgents strip club, Dream House. She was strong, independent, had a hard and unfair childhood and was keeping an abundance of secrets.
I struggled with Jax on this one. He was so disrespectful to Cherri as a woman that it wasn't surprising that she wouldn't give in to him. I know it was an MC and they were rough around the edges, but for the good ones, I'm used to more respectful behavior to those they care about. He didn't show that until much later in the book. Additionally, it was filled with other women and men scenarios that I totally disliked. I wanted to feel a connection but it just wasn't there for me.
I usually like dark and suspenseful themes but Jax was so dark and disturbing that it was a challenge to complete. I also missed the genuine MC bond that I'm used to experiencing in the MC books.
Although this wasn't my favorite book, I'm still interested in seeing where Wilder takes us next in Chas's Fervor.
The summary of the book said that HEA and the characters fall in love and everyone is happy and so on and so on. Well for Moe that 50% of the book Jax and Cherri are with other people. These characters who love each other are having sex with other people? Not something I want to be reading when it's obvious Jax loves Cherri and wants to be with her but Cherri has some huge issues and really Max should've just moved on. This book also reminded me a lot of a joanna wilder book that she wrote so it just didn't sit right with me.
